So I have about 450 bucks and I was thinking about getting a PROGRAMER but I have no clue what to buy it will be for my 2005 f-150 FX4 5.4 liter I'm open to any opinions!

 

Edge Evo seems to be the programmer of choice around here. I recently installed mine I bought on Amazon for $279.00 with the Pod. You have to shop it around to get the deal on it but so far I am pleased.

 

There is a variety of programmers you can get for that $. Lot depends on what features you want, most tuners work basically the same on how they reflash your PCM. We have a programmer Sticky thread under Aftermarket reviews section I believe, has a TON of info on programmers.

 

I have the Edge Evo CS in mine with the pod and talk about waking my truck up.....Holy cow!!!

 

Not to steal the thread, but how much does a programmer help with fuel economy if you program it for that?

 

Realistically only about 1 to 2 mpg. And that's if you keep your foot out of it and with a programmer installed, usually you will want to stomp the gas even more. lol

 

I can second that one. I had mine on level 2 the first couple weeks and couldnt keep my foot out. I am on level 1 now and about to take a trip so we will see if there is any difference on the highway on level 1 vs level 2. Regardless I feel it was worth every penny and you have the power on demand when you want/need it

 

Let's just say I have 34" tires, 2.5" level, bed cover and exhaust and gotts. WITHOUT the programmer on level 2 towing I get 12 mpg. WITH the programmer on level 2 I get 15-16 and that's highway city combined

 

I'm thinking of buying me an edge to what do you guys think about running it on level 3 I always run 91 or 93 octane I also have true dual flowmasters if that matters.
