Lightbulb PreRunner build for the new guy

Hey guys. New Guy here looking at doing a PreRunner build on my 07 XLT. It is 2wd so I figure I wanna have some fast fun. Big plus on offroad running my little ones love it(8yr, 3yr). I am a quick learner when it comes to mechanical work. I have done some research already, but I would like some friendly input from y'all here at the forum.

How serious do you want to go with the "pre-runner"
are we talking roll cage and the whole 9 yards, or just a recreational pre-runner look?

Id check out camburg engineering for some cool stuff...

lvhonda55 has the sickest member owned 2wd 04-08 Prerunner I've seen anywhere, he's very knowlegable and I'm sure will be willing to help you out.

Here's the thread on his current truck:

Here is a couple of pics from today. I am not really looking to go all the way out with it. Partly due to I have kids so i have to budget what I get and it is usually not too much, but enough to make things fun for the boys.

The best advice I can give you is to know your budget before ANYTHING. Before you know it you'll drop 15-20K. What are you looking to do and what are you looking for?

Sorry it has been awhile since I have been able to sign in. Cost I am looking to stay between 1-6K at most. I don't wanna build a real deal baja prerunner, but I would like to have the looks and a couple of suspension mods to have fun offroad.

Get the camburg performance 7.0 kit with fiberglass fenders. And for the rear get some deaver springs. All together it will be on the high end of your budget but if would be worth it!!
