Yup. Apparantly a lot of vehicles are like this.

mine took regular power steering fluid. when i had my leak it was the hose that connects from the cooler to the pump. where the soft line connected to the hard line, that clip they use to connect it had rubbed a hole in my hose. I ended up replacing all the lines and the cooler.

got all my parts from o'reilly's auto parts. it ended up costing me about $120 for everything and a couple hours to get everything off and back on. I haven't had any leaks since.

How long ago was that and no issues with steering since?

Does anybody know the difference in viscosity and formulation of power steering fluid and transmission fluid?

Not sure of viscosities, but if your specs call for ps fluid and you are replacing all the fluid make sure you get fluid that is rated for flush. Most fluid is top off only, but you need flush/ top off fluid for replacement. Can lead to early failure of any steering parts if you don't.
