Power steering cooler
My power steering cooler is slowly seeping at both hose connections. My guess is that the P.O. overtightened the connectors and put a hairline crack in the cooler male connectors. None of the components appear difficult to replace. However, I am of the Simpler = Better school and am considering making up hoses to bypass the cooler. I have had many vehicles although this is my first Ford. None of my previous vehicles have had a power steering cooler. My basic question is; Is the power steering cooler necessary on this vehicle? It receives light use.

Closer inspection showed loose spring-type clamps. The hoses could actually be rotated in place. I replaced both clamps with worm-type and leak gone.
BadFish, the cooler is located under and just behind the front bumper.

My truck has a transmission cooler in addition. It is in front of the radiator and about twice the size of the power steering cooler. If you-all are unsure, I'll post some pictures when I get a break in the action.
