Default Power rear window

I my truck didn't come with a power rear slider and I'm wondering is it worth the money to get one now that I've had the truck for awhile?
I'm just tired of jumping over the seat to open and close mine.
Can I do the work myself or would it be worth it to just have a shop or dealership do it?

First off, what model truck do you have? I ask because It may not be pre-wired for this option. The window install is usually the easy part; the wiring and switch control can be a bear to do if you're not prepared to remove all the required wiring harness/switch from the donor truck.

There are posts on this, as it's been done before and posted here. Use the search and put in "power rear window" as key words. Don't search on "power windows", as you'll get hundreds of hits on the side windows, as they have been troublesome for alot of folks, and many posts have been placed on this forum.

Use the advanced search; select this forum (2004 to 2008 technical).

Remove the trim pieces behind the rear seat (if equipped), and see of a harness is there.

Is the harness blue? Or what will it look like? I won't be able to check until tomorrow maybe

Like most "options" on the higher end models, Ford would use a standard harness, even if the truck did not have all the options. I'd say you'd be looking for a plug (female end) in the area of the rear window.

Perhaps someone that has done work on their rear window can chime in and tell you where specifically to look, and what color code the wires are.

Like how my 2wd still had the 4x4 switch harness?
