Default Possible clogged cat

Hey guys. I have an 06 fx4 5.4 that is beginning to loose power at high speeds. When I step on the gas at 60 it hesitates and doesn't go anywhere unless I punch the gas pedal to the floor. Also the exhaust is beginning to smell like rotten eggs and the truck has been idling rough. What do you guys think? There's no cel on at all. Is there anyway to test the cats? There's only 2 of them.

Exhaust shops around here will test them for free. I believe what they do is drill a small hole in front of the cat to put in a probe that measures backpressure, then seal it up when done. It definitely sounds like that's your issue, though.

Without going to a shop, you think there is any other way to see?

If they're plugged they're usually way hotter ahead of the cat than after the cat after you've been driving a bit. If you had access to an IR thermometer gun you could crawl under there and see. I don't know what temps you're looking for though, I'm sure others can chime in there.

That sounds just like the problems I was having with my clogged cat. I would recommend having it checked asap by a dealership because if the truck is under 80k or less than 8 years old its covered by ford.

Truck has 142k on it and is an 06. I don't think I'm covered by that. Damn!

No glowing red. And each one measured about 365 degrees in and out. Truck idles rough at 590-610 rpm and in drive it idles at around 520 and still shakes. But when I step on the gas it smoothes out
