Ok i researched what I could and did some of the following as pointed out...

Code P0358, 05 xlt 5.4

Short history... I had to change out the passenger side spark plugs again... Changed them, got the code P0358.

1. What I did was swap the CoP with one that wasnt throwing a code.
2. Checked for arcs, nicks in the lines, tightness of connections.

One of the things I researched said possible Computer Failure...

After swap out and recheck, it will not let me get over 25, it bogs down, CEL starts to flash with instant P0358.

What should I check or do next, thanks.

 

Swap the #8 coil with one from another cylinder and see if the code changes.

 

i swapped 8 w/ 5. cleared codes, started fine but then press the gas in d/od got the same result.

 

cleared codes... swapped 6 plug and CoP with 8... 15 mph bog down and P0358!!!

 

i was just asked so i though id ask.. is there a chance its the fuel injector? wouldnt that throw a different code.

is that hard.. i did it on explorer it was a PITA never one of these.

also its only doing it under load now

 

ok all plugs are now new MC plugs instead of Champion. code went away but still running like otter crap..

NOW the exhaust leak on passenger side at the motor is now 50x louder then what it was... RPMs still fluctuate... clogged cat?

 

Just got back from Shop with Cylinder 8 and 4 misfire.. With brand new CoPs and plugs!!!!! he said he swapped 8 with one that was working and it fired up and the Code did not follow.

However he wouldnt mess with 4 cause he doesnt have proper tools.. It wasnt a ford Stealership.. so I guess im going to them next.

so tried my test with my wife in the truck, palm code reader hooked up... with truck running cleared codes i pulled number 8. instant code came up along with you could tell a motor change.

ok plugged it back in shut truck right off... cleared codes.. start it back up.. now do it to 4.

Truck running unplug number 4 instant code but NO motor change..

so now im guess same thing he did.. either coil or plug.. both new.. wtf...

but not the cats unless i leave it as it is...

Ok so ROUND 3.. WTF!!! First Mech Shop... Cats not clogged.. 4 is missing all together... 8 is intermittent miss.

Take it to Ford... first Mech said couldnt touch it cause of the "special size" spark plug socket... yeah he only had standard.. plus he didnt feel like getting into it..

SO FORD gets it... Ford says "phaser on driver side is bad" (i knew that) and hooks it up to the machine.. No fire on 4 at ALL he shows me the chart... 8 has a low miss and 4 isnt hitting at all?!?!?!?!?!?! He apologies for not being able to dig into it further right now, but he has to take care of 13 recalled cars at the moment so he says no charge..

damn really... all we did was change plugs to MC plugs cause of a miss and Old broken CoPs to Accel.. This is what I get for getting gas at a place that looks shady! F****

still wont get over 30 mph bogs out.. wont throw codes for ANYTHING but po358 even though he knows for sure with proof that 4 is the one missing! now what should I do?
