Default PLEASE HELP! need window up asap

Hey guys,

I wrote a post about this almost 2 weeks ago or so and i didn't get any replies. My supercrew truck back passanger window is all the way down and the motor is dead. I need to raise my window but the 2 bolts that whole the glass on the bottom isn't easy to reach. Can someone please help with any tips or instructions on how to get my glass up. thanks

Joe

you sure the motor is gone? I had a similar thing happen to mine and it was broken wires in the conduit between the cab and the door....seems to be a common issue. You can actually find the wiring diagram and jumper power from a working window to the stuck window (if the motor isn't shot) to get the window up.

The first thing I check is if there's power to the motor. If there's power, I hold the switch and pop the motor with a small hammer. That will usually get the window up far enough to get to the clips that hold the glass to the regulator. Hope this works for ya

T\here is power going to the motor. How hard do you recommend hitting the motor and which switch would i use, the back pass or the master switch? Also, if i hit the swtich, will it scratch the glass? And, can someone shine some light on this method? Why would hitting the motor work?
@sloan I shot wires at the motor connector and got 9 volts with just the battery on. so that would lead me to believe the motor is dead. The one thing i did notice is when i press the switch down, i hear a click sound but when i press up on the switch i hear nothing so your guess is as good as mine is. Also, how do you jumper wires?

Test your switches with a multimeter. Also test for a good ground. Believe ground leaves driver side door also.

It's literally about a 30 sec job to pull out a switch so you may want to pull out the other rear switch or passenger switch to try it....maybe you have a bad switch.

If you checked the voltage at the switch, you should now check the voltage at the motor for up and down....sounds like you have down due to click but up is questionable.

Wrt hitting the motor, sometimes they just get stuck and need a little persuasion. This is a common fix for the rear slider that has been proven to work. As long as you don't miss the motor (and even then it would be hard) or hit the motor like a lumberjack, you shouldn't bother the window....you just need to tap on it.

@Sloan: when i shot the wires, it was at the motor, not the switch. I've also swapped switches to verify it wasn't the switch. The back rear switch does work, i hooked it up to the front passanger and it worked. I also put the front passanger in the back and it didn't work. Would jumping the motor work if the motor is dead? Thanks
