Question PLEASE HELP! Grinding near engine?

In the past five days I have notice a increasing sound of "grinding" towards the front of my truck, sounds like under the engine, almost directly under the dash (but straight down). It started out only making the sound when I was shifting near 40-50 MPH, but now it has happened as low as 15 MPH. It almost sounds like I'm revving* it, when it happens (but no increase in RPMs). Almost every time it happens is at random. Sometimes it even sounds like the exhaust is carrying the noise out. As of right now I'm not to worried about it, but I need to know if this is going to be a big issue. Any help is appetitive, thanks.

Mine does it too. It only does it when I'm moviing slowly though. Like rolling to a stop. I think it has to do with tires. Used to do it all the time when my tires were worn unevenly but now with my new tires I havent heard it. I don't think it's anything to be concerned about. might wanna call the stealership and have it checked out though!

Irish, Is your truck a 4x4? If so, the noise may be related to a vacuum/IWE issue. Then read here;

Yeah its a 4X4 . And I was thinking about that cause I haven't got that part changed yet, since I heard a lot of F-150s were having that issue.

If you're doing the work yourself, IWEs are about $78.00 apiece if purchased online (they are a "Ford only" part). If it's a bearing/hub issue you can just call around your local parts places for the best price (or check online).
