PID for outside air temp?
I have a 2004 F150 FX4 and it does show the outside temp on the little dash display...but I can't read it when I am driving. That stupid green thing is pretty useless.
What I do have is an Android touch screen/radio with Torque Pro installed. Torque does have a generic pid for OAT but it displays nothing. Apparently ford decided on something else.
Any Ideas?

I've been banging/hacking/scanning/picking at the OBDII system for an extended period now. Outside air temp is one I've looked for extensively. The outside temperature sensor (on the center radiator bracket - just below the hood latch) is wired directly to the instrument cluster where it is converted for the cluster display.
I know the PCM has access to the reading via the CAN BUS because certain engine functions (like the PCV tube heater comes on below 35º f.). But I can't figure out how to get at it. _I think_ It has something to do with the OBDII "header". Like "HIC" for Human Interface Console (though that one don't work!), or something similar. It's like the four ABS wheel sensors have to be read with header "ABS" at PID 3987. But the ambient air temperature PID is hex 0046, down in the standard pid range (below hex 0200). Why our ECU won't cough it up, I don't know.
If you (or anyone) can figure anything more out about it, I'd like to know. I like to add it to my "everything temperature" dashboard:
