Default PHP custom tunes? A yes or a no?

I have the edge tuner in my 2004 5.4. I ran it on tune 1 and 2 back and fourth for a bit and I noticed the shifting sucks, it feels horrible the truck feels like it’s slipping under full throttle. Since then I’ve ran the truck stock. I only use the tuner for monitoring purposes. I was wondering if a custom tune from power hungry performance would help or fix this issue? Is it even worth getting a custom tune? I have some things done truck is straight piped and has the gotts mod and 305/50/20 tires really looking for advice here!

Did you try increasing the shift firmness in edge? That might be worth doing. If the trans is slipping that's the only thing you can do via software I think. Either that or change out your trans fluid and make sure it's in good shape.
how many miles on it? I had one on my previous truck and it drove fine on level 2 and 3 with no trans slipping but that was at 35k miles

The truck has 143k on it, I had changed a bunch of settings a handful of times trying to get things to be smoother, I changed the fluid and filter which looked good when I did it no change there. I even went as far as copying some other peoples custom settings firmness and shift point wise to try and help and nothing seemed to change. Normal driving was sometimes okay but hard shifts usually and then full throttle was no good felt like I was going to lose my trans on some of them.

sounds like a trans problem... my shift firmness has been bumped up since new and never had a problem.. i do service my trans every 30k or so.

did you utilize the edge to reprogram it for the change in tire size?

id probably return all settings to stock, then only adjust for tire size, the. See how it responds.

I have changed the tire size only and it still did this. The trans shifts flawlessly without the tuner in the truck but when the tuner is on tune 1 or 2 it shifts awful never even attempted the 3rd tune.

ok. Never experienced that (and have run both edge and also the gryphon version of the edge).

I have the Edge with the Gryphon conversion, run it on power setting 2.

I notice the shifts are much firmer than stock, and definitely not as smooth. At WOT the truck jerks on some shifts. With stock program it shifts like butter(but of course it's a loose shift). I think that's just the nature of the beast with that program.

All that being said, I run it with the firm shifts still.
