Default PCM from 2004 and 2007

I tried searching a few pcm things, if anyone knows the search method better maybe, send me in a better direction. Long story short.

I have a 2004 4.6 motor in a 2007 4.6 f150.

I just took this project over. The car wont run well on the 2007 ecu.

my questions are. What is the best method to fix this? I pickup the car tomorrow. I believe I should be swamping the 2004 PCM into the 2007 F150? I'm guessing I would have to have it recoded to the key?

Thanks and sorry.

I don't know why you're assuming it's the ECU that's the problem. I would look into other troubleshooting first. Does it throw any codes? Did you let it do the throttle body relearn process?

I cant at this point.

I have gathered more information.

1. The motor is from a 2004 Ford f150 Its A 4.6 v8. It came with a Ecu and a Clusters.
2. The Truck I am swapping into is a 2007 F150.
3. The Ecu I am using at the moment is a ecu from the 2007. You can get the car to turn over and it wants to start, it has fuel, a new maf, I belive by the sounds its getting spark, but I really feel like the timing is off. This will lead me more questions.
4. The 2004 Ecu (a very different model) wont turn over at all. (thus my programming thoughts)

With this information. I am starting to deduct
1. I need to know what the differences between a 2004 and 2007 motors and if there is something im missing.
2. Can i use an older ecu on a newer truck?
3. Will this plan work?

FYI...you replied to someone who made a few posts 4 years ago and hasn't been back since.
