Question Paint question

im trying to paint some plastic on my truck like the door handles and the top part of the rear view mirrors but im wondering how can i find out the exact color of my paint, like where would it say on my truck cauz i head about something by the vin number.....anyone know??? any information would help

Most autobody paint stores can match your color and even put it in a spray can for you. So you don't have to go down to Wal-mart and try to find a color close and hope it looks good. If you don't have a local auto paint store here is one of many on-line places to purchase it.

yeah i got you, but thanks and my friends dad has a body shop and i didnt wanna bother him and if it wasnt hard ide just go pick it up from autozone of something but i wanna do it right so should i just get it from him?

check the drivers side door and the pillar between both doors it should say ext paint..or u can go to oreilly auto parts (used to work there) and they can tell u the code using the vin number..

If you want to do it yourself and not pay your friends Dad. I would go to his shop and atleast see if he can get you the paint and pick his brain about how to best go about doing your project. Advice is usually free, especially if it's from your friends Dad.

and two cans of spray paint going to be about $30-40 depending where you get it, then you will need a good Adhesion Promoter primer also since your painting plastic, and some sand paper. I'll guess 50-60 bucks for materials. If you just doing door handles and top of two mirrors 1 can probably do it.

haha yea i called my friend and he told me to go to his dads body shop but its all the way in west hollywood and im not that close but ima see what happens, but thanks a lot man you helped a lot

you can get the exact match at the dealer, i think it's around 16 bucks a can...or if your dad's buddy can give you a deal...get everyone you want to ptm at once and save yourself some cash...

its not that big of a deal but right now the economy is **** and all but ill see ima go over his house right now and talk to him

and trust me when i say you want the mirror caps to be infared cured in a paint booth, they will not last with spray bomb
