so i picked up a truck last weekend codde p1000 came back from my scan tool, how do you reset the drive cycle to show other dtc codes, because im sure my 05 with 284kms has codes and i just want the CEL to come on so i can figure it out

P1000 comes up after the battery has been unhooked or probably the pcm has been reset. You need to drive it around for probably 30 minutes or so to get the readiness monitors set.
sometime around then the .p1000 goes away, but if you have no errors no codes will magically appear.

IF you are having issues there are ways to troubleshoot even if you have no trouble codes.. you can use the torque pro app or forscan along with a elm32 adapter to look at things like mode 6 misfire counter or power balance... Read live data like fuel pressure, vct error, duty cycle etc.

Maybe. Or, maybe, you simply haven't yet found out why the system was reset prior to your purchase.... It may have been innocuous... or not.

Drive it normally and monitor.

 

P1000 will not prevent other DTC's from appearing. once it's gone it may add some though.
