Default Oval Badge....

Ok, after hours of research I understand that to remove the oval on the tailgate you basically heat it up and either gently pry it off or use fishing wire. My question is, once you have it off how do you separate the pieces? I have a new custom oval sticker that I want to install in place of the raised lettering ford. And I also want to scuff the chrome surround and paint it.

The pieces don't separate, its all together as one piece

Are you 100% sure it doesn't come apart? I thought I saw somewhere on here where someone had disassembled one.

It's only one piece. Some of the fender and tailgate emblems on newer trucks are able to be separated, but not the oval.

I purchased a camo ford oval and put it right on the stock one.

But doesn't the raised lettering show through? The new sticker I got doesn't say Ford, it's all black with a thin blue line and I'm trying to keep it nice and smooth.

Mine is an 04 and nothing is raised on the oval, it's smooth. I guess the newer ones have a raised emblem, I hadn't noticed.

Really? My next question is, will an earlier model oval like your 04 fit my 06?

Ok, so yesterday while I was at the mall I stopped by a half dozen or so of different year 150's and rubbed their oval. I came to the conclusion they all have raised lettering. So when I got home I removed mine and realized you guys are right, it is one piece and the the ford is stamped from the back side. So I took my trusty body hammer and started hammering away and then a little time on the grinder wheel and some sanding, wala....nice and smooth. Now I just need to paint it black and install the new sticker.....on a side note, did anyone know that the oval is made in Italy?
