Default Optima batteries?..

Hey guys,

I was in the mood for battery shopping, and as mine could use a recharge, I was thinking out with the old.. I was thinking of going with an Optima battery. Long life, reliability, expensive... I'm also in the midst of doing some modifications, such as: subwoofers and amplifier along with a LCD In Dash navigation, as well as converting to power windows, locks, and mirrors. An optima battery seemed like a good addition with the extra power that was going to be needed. I was wondering if any of you had any experience with these batteries. I know they have different.. "models".. i.e. red top, yellow top. So if anyone can lend some insight it would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I want an optima but it's a luxury my highschool budget can't afford. Theyare great and I know people who have them. You really go a long tine before it gets low and they are very powerful. I believe you would probably want a red top, correct me if I'm wrong.

I would go with a red top under the hood and a kinetik in the cab.If your adding lots of high power accessories, I would suggest an HO alternator.

I was checking the Optima website, and all the yellow tops for my 4.6L V8 say that I need adapters to fit in, cold climate, and that the hood clearance needs to be checked. I have an '06 STX ('04-'08), did anyone need an adapter, do they supply it or do I have to hunt for one?

i have a red top and i left my lights on at school for 2 hours (before they told me to go check it lol) and someone asked if i needed to be jumped off but i went out there and they were still on and my truck cranked right up ! I dont think a ordinary battery would do that!

I have had a red top for about 6 months, starts strong everytime. I love it. A bit pricey, but as with most things, you get what you pay for.

I have a red top in my truck and a blue top and yellow top in my boat. The nice thing about it is I have only bought one red top. I work at NAPA and people bring them in as cores thinking they are dead so I charge them up and they have lasted me for a little over a year in my boat but most people just don't know how to charge them correctly. So just make sure if you do get one to take care of it and it will last a VERY long time I am going on 6 or so years for the read top I have.
