Default OK to unplug control module?

If I can unplug the control module (on the firewall) it will enable me to move some of the harness a bit so I can reach the back plug coil for replacement. I would disconnect the battery before attempting to do so. Is it OK to do this? Any precautions?

Be aware that your ECM will have to relearn its parameters and operating ranges due to the memory loss from being unhooked. This is completely normal but expect an unusually low idle and the truck possibly dying once or twice when idling down during this process. Will right itself after a few drive cycles.

I would just un-bolt it from the firewall and lay it aside

It won't help. I pulled the ECU and the bracket when I changed mine. Made the repair much simpler than the driver side.

I unbolted mine also.. but, did not unplug it..just zip tied it out of the way and pulled the bracket. It makes it a lot easier.
