Default oil temp help!!!

I have an edge evolution and it gives alerts as most of you know. Well today I was driving in interstate and a warning came up on it and said my oil temp was 207. So I jumped off interstate and let the truck sit for a while and it cooled back down. I drove on the highway at 68 and it ran 197 but when I got back on interstate it jumped back to 206. What's causing this and is it something I need to be worried about? Any input is appreciated.

the oil temp will usually run 10 to 20 degrees above what the engine temp is (usually around 190) so those temps are normal. The alerts on the evolution are determined by what you tell it to alarm at so you must have it set to alarm out at a low temp.

So what is considered a high temp?

You are still in the rang of acceptable but definitely check your oil level if you have never had temps this high. Maybe you're a little low? Did you just install your Edge or something? Trying to get an idea if this is normal or your truck or jut started happening.

No I've had it since about Christmas. It has never gotten above 203 before. The alert was set ay 205 so I bumped it up to 208 and I was just driving 70 and it climbed to 209.

You may just want to check your oil level just to be sure since you've never had it go that high before.

Are you running Non Synth, Semi-Synth, or Full Synthetic? And what weight oil are you using?

I just checked the oil level and it was about a quart low. I looked underneath and there I'd no leak that I can see. I park in the same spot every night and there Is no spot on the ground. I've got about 3400 miles since my Las change.

Being a quart low could have possibly raised the temperature the extra ~5° that you saw. I would top it off and see if the problem persists.

I put a quart in and it took it right up to the top of the full went out and drove it on interstate at 80 and it still went up to 212. Engine temp ran a constant 198°. Is 21 2normal for a water temp of 198?

I wish I could tell you if that's abnormal but I have honestly never monitored my engine oil temp. I just had to run into town and looked at it but since I was only driving through town I could only get it to 192 after hitting redline. The rest of the time it was around 175 at idle and 188 cruising.
