Default No reverse!?

Ok so I get in my truck this morning to go to work. Put it in reverse and go about 5 feet before feeling like I backed into something. So I pull forward and get out and there's nothing. Get back in put it in reverse and nothing! Is there a way it could be some kind of sensor, or is it for sure internal transmission? By the way it's an 07 5.4 4x4. Thanks for the help!

User mitymerc rebuilds these transmissions for a living. Click here to go through his posts and see if he's talked about this (or something similar) before.

There is a known issue with our trucks and the reverse band. This may or may not be it but it is common. If caught early you can get away with just replacing the band but it sounds like you are beyond that.
