Nitrogen - Just curious
Seems like this discussion goes either way based upon the previously supplied link. I had it put in my tires when I brought it in for its 30k mile service. The dealership in Manassas VA put it in for free and they had an additional deal where they signed me up for a free year of road hazard warranty for the tires and roadside assistance for the truck. Seeing my truck is going to run out of its bumper-to-bumper factory warranty in about 2k miles all I see is benefits. Not a bad deal to include not having to worry about the pressure fluctuations and it's supposed to extend the life of the tire. One more thing, cheaps good but free's my price!
I run nitrogen in mine because the pressure stays consistent regardless of temperature. Nascar runs nitrogen in there tires so when the tires get heated up, the pressure wont increase. Now I know we drive trucks and not stock cars but its the same principal. On a hot day, I have checked the pressure and then drove about 50 miles and checked the pressure when i stopped. There was around a 5psi difference in the two. Now when you fill your tires, do you try to get them all the same, or just somewhere close in a 5psi window. Just less hassle with having to keep adjusting levels due to temperature change.

They do it because they have more money than brains (usually). Or they just want to spend money. Or for some silly reason the MFG or tire place put it in for them and that is what they have now.
There isn't a good reason for normal people to do it. I mean, sure the pressure can be more even and it is said that the loss of pressure is little to none, but it isn't free. normal air is. Normal air has worked for many decades and it just doesn't seem to be worth the time and effort to switch over to it if it didn't come that way.
Normal air is over 70% Nitrogen anyway...

CRASHTEC I respect your opinion but again it didn't cost me a dime and I bet there are other dealerships and places of business that are now doing it for free. My dad once, twice, errr I think it's one of favorite sayings in the world, "Opinions are like *****holes everyone has one and they all stink."
