A programmer will be your easiest option to go for. Some like the Evo which are canned tunes and other hate them and go for something like the gryphon.

It depends on what you drive and what programer you get, and settings u put it on, like i seen a mustang gain a few horses and some torque, and a 6.0L f350 gained likr an extra 100lbs of ft torque and like 60 more horses, and a few extra mpg. It basically takes the factory settings out of the brain on your vehicle, so you can run it to it's full potential, instead of it being held back like the way it comes from the factory.

But you watch the brands you buy from, and be careful about wut you're doin. Alota programmer companies suck, and can screw up your car or truck. Even some of the good ones can fail, but if you have an sct programmer, it will tell you weather it fails or not, and will give you the option of aborting the download and putting the stock tunes back in. That's good, because alot of programmers don't tell you that they fail, you'll just end up having problems down the road, like my dads 7.3L. It shifts like crap, and when you go to plug in the programmer he programmed it with, I'm pretty sure it won't let him re-program it back to stock, or change it. Some people have problems with they're car not even starting, or it'll fry their computer, but withthat, you're getting into the bad companies. I'd stick with sct, or mayne this evolution programmer everybodys talkin about. Just do lotsa research on somthing, and watch YouTube videos or talk to people about how their stuff turned out before you buy,..and STAY away from superchips.

Here you go, lots of good info here.

Also, go to
www.powerhungryperformance.com, look into the Gryphon if you’re looking to do mods down the road.
