Default New Owner!

Hello All,

About 3 days ago, I purchased a 2008 F150 XLT 4WD. This forum was awesome in helping me decide what to purchase, so now I'm leaning on you again for some more insight. The truck is awesome, drives well, runs even better...but has 100,000 miles. I'm going to be using it as a daily driver, and will hopefully be able to put another 100k+ on it over the next few years. In order to make sure that happens, I'll be doing some preventative stuff. So finally my question, what recommendations would everyone make for maintenance to do within the next 10,000 miles?

The plan right now is to change all the fluids and filters. I'm concerned about the spark plugs...but I also averaged 22 mpg (all highway). So I don't want to make any changes that would harm my current mpg.

I also have the previous service records coming in the mail soon, so I'll be able to provide more detail about what has already been done.

Thanks for the continued help!

Does it have the 4.6 or 5.4, that would help decide about the plugs because they break easy in the 5.4s. I have the 4.6 so I got lucky on that side of things.

Congrats on the new truck, and the answer to your question is sort of. Engine build date of 10/09/07 and later have new plugs installed....check your engine build date on your door jamb sticker.

Unfortunately, this is the only picture I have right now...I need to get out there and take some better ones, preferably without the giant sold across the image. haha

I'll also check out my build date later today...

Well for starters its a ford and that good. I like to use Lucus when i change my oil, and grease everything that can be greased often. If you find out that the tranny had been serviced before then service it agian, and every 60'000 after. If it has not and you want to check to make sure it dont smell burnt, if it dose leave it alone. have no idea about the plugs. Nice truck.

I think the new plugs had brown cops on top.

So...my door jamb has a date of September 2007. So it looks like I probably have the old plugs. Fortunately I get half off labor for the next six months from the dealer, so I'll be taking it in soon.

Guess I've got a hefty bill coming my way though...
