Default New Guy - Leveling Kit - 2.5 vs 3.0

Just joined this forum and it's full of excellent information. I'm having a leveling kit installed on my '07 XLT 4x4 (17" oem wheels/tires, bought it new) Monday from a local shop (very good reputation) that deals in truck lifts, tires, etc. He asked me if I wanted a 2.5" or 3.0", told him I didn't know, he was the expert. He said he would install the 3.0" for me. Well, after reading all these threads on leveling kits, 3.0 is not the preferred lift to install (front end problems). So, I'm contacting them Monday and telling him to install the 2.5" (unless persuaded otherwise by the experts on this forum). Thanks guys!

You can tell I'm new to this. Just going to install the 2.5" on the front. Thought that was the purpose of it, to level the truck. The front fenderwell does sit appr. 2.5" lower than the rear. Do I need to add a lift in the rear? I did have a friend who had a 2.5" added at the same place (can't figure why they wanted to installa 3" on mine) and it looks great. BTW, I have the 4-door, 5.4 V8. Real reason for the lift kit is I think the Ford truck looks awesome level.

if you are gonna leave the rear stock, go with a 2" leveling kit. it will leave about a 1/2" rake, if that....

i put a 3 inch on my 05 and haven't had any problems with it at all. It sits pretty much level without anything added to the rear.

04/05 have more rake from the factory, 06 to 08's have 1 less leaf spring in the pack, 2 inch leveling is the best choice is you plan on the leaving the rear end alone...
