I threw two of those Pioneer shallow mount subs in a friend of mines truck and they sound excellent.

Default Custom Sounds

Well I went to a shop here in San Antonio called Custom Sounds....they've been around for awhile and my pops suggested that I go there. I asked him..."what do you suggest as far as the best front component system that you all carry?" He introduced me to some JL Audio stuff and then he showed me and new name brand that I have never heard...called HERTZ... He tells me that they are from Italy and are wildly popular on the east coast but nobody else knows about them....Lemme tell you, THEY SOUND AMAZING!! For what I need right now....I can just use front components and a new headunit...Amps, subs, and if wanted rear drop ins can come later....

Headunit: ALPINE iDA-X303 $159.99
Front Component System: Hertz HZDSK165 $179.99

Total Cost: $339.98 + Install

The Hertz stuff is highly regarded in sound quality circles, good choice. I'd still recommend a cheap two channel amp to get the most out of them for now.
