Default Needing to lower the rear.

I have a messed up knee and pushing the bikes up into the bed is starting to wear me out. I am wanting to drop the rear 1 to 2 inches to a level or almost level stance, thus making it easier to run the bikes/tools in and out.

I used blocks on a S10 I had in high school and the results after 70k miles were horrific. So avoiding them is my main priority.

Any other ways that do not cost mega bucks?

I would like to do this also. Not a fan of raising even more. Ive done alot of reading as well but can never figure out the best approach and least amount of stress long term.

Are you 4wd? If so there is a rear block and you could take that out and see.

There should be no long term effects to lowering the rear of your truck. The 2" lowering shackles only lower the truck 1.75". But this makes a big difference in appearance. It also shifts more weight onto your rear axle which seems to give it a little more traction. Some kits sell shim sets with them to adjust the angle change of your drive line. But looking at mine after installation, i really dont see much difference in the angle without the shims. My rear end (wheel well opening)was sitting 37" from the ground prior to changing shackles. 35.25" afterwards. I dont see where the driveline could change when the shackles are only changing the position of the body on the leaf springs.

If anything,it decreases the driveline angle. Which would be a good thing.
