Well got 7 outta 8 done. Third plug change on it done by me.
I was removing the back passenger coil and noticed oilish crap on top. Turns put whatever the hose above the spark plug hole had a VERY slow drip. The more I tried to get the stubby impact in there the more it would would drip. I think it maybe antifreeze.
Can someone confirm what hose this is and if its something I can swap out.
There is a fitting and a aluminum fitting and a disconnect like the fuel line has but twice the size.
Btw motor was hot when plugs were removed. I could not get the Aircat Stubby impact on the last plug. When I tried to move the hose I had seen where the oilish crap drip was coming from. Any tips / advise
If you're talking about a large black rubber hose running through the firewall, that's a heater hose. There are two heater hoses going through the firewall, one for water to the heater and one coming back. That's why it's antifreeze.
So the heater hose has a very very slow drip at the aluminum connect in the 1st pic.
Has anyone replaced this before? Any how to's or tips.
It does have a quick disconnect too.
Thx
Ok ordered it from amazon. Oem too $48.
When I have the old hose out gonna try to get that final #4 plug out using the Aircat stubby Fordmakeuloca says to use. I am stumped how he says it works with the hoses about the cylinder hole.
Gonna work at it with a hot motor. So if I take the gose off hot will it be a river of antifreeze? Any tips woth that.
Anyhow, worse case I need to use a rachet by hand. Hopefully being the 3rd time the plugs were changed out and each set was the current plug.
As to preventing the loss of the antifreeze, you could drain the radiator into a clean receptacle before you start, then pour it back in afterwards. It won't hurt to run the engine until it warms up without that antifreeze. But closely monitor it to not let it get too hot.
You should have zero problem with the last plug if this is your third change, just use a ratchet.
As for the hose, you could drain some out of the radiator petcock so there's less up top in the system, but there's still going to be some drips so either put rags under to catch it, it be prepared to blow out the spark plug wells after your don't with the job as you don't want water in there with the spark plugs.
