Default Need help trans temp!

Ok y'all so I replaced my bad fan clutch today because it was seized and would run a lot more than it should but now my trans runs really hot and engine seems to run hotter easier. I have the small factor trans cooler not the tow package one but I'm lost as what to do. It's 83* outside and the trans is sitting at 190 and normally would be more like 180. I need to keep it cooler because I have 35" tires. Should I go bigger trans cooler or what? It gets hotter as i sit still. I need to fix this ASAP. 2004 f150 5.4 135,000 miles

Do you tow alot? Also as stated, engine coolant (anti-freeze) plays a factor on trans operating temps.

I do tow a 21' Grady white a lot in the summer and other trailers when needed. What is the easiest way to flush the system and replace it??

Pay the price to a transmission shop that has the proper low pressure flush system. They will inspect the transmission first, then drop the pan, connect the flush equipment, get ALL the old fluid out, replace the filter, fill with all new synthetic transmission fluid.

If you go the route of dropping the pan yourself, you will only get about 4 1/2 quarts of fluid replaced along with a new filter, leaving 5 to 6 quarts of dirty fluid in the torque converter and valve body.

If you tow, that fluid should be changed every 30 to 50K. Yes, I know Ford claims they use "lifetime" transmission fluid, but a 21' trailer puts much more of a load on the transmission.

I'd also consider upgrading to a larger transmission cooler.

From what I've read, 190 is within the normal range. The newer trucks have a themostat to keep the trans temp around 190-200.
