Default Need help stuck at college

My truck is dead again u replaced the battery a month ago because I would never have a charge. Now it is dead again and I have a new battery. With the key of and the lights in the auto spot ( which is where they were to begin with I didn't leave them on) there is a ticking noise coming from my fuse box. And the lights win shut off.

If you have a clicking noise (which sounds like a clock) eminating from the fuse box, then you have a bad relay.

Open the fuse box and you may be able to determine the specific relay that is ticking [either audibly or by feel for excessive heat]. Also, do you have an aftermarket stereo or other devices that run directly to your battery?

May not be a bad relay....if the voltage from the battery is too low, the relay will not "switch". As the poster stated, the lights go dim/out when he turns the key to operate the starter. This tells me he has another dead/low charge battery. Either something is draining the battery when the engine is off, or he has a bad alternator (not charging the battery).

Once you get the battery charged enough to get the truck started, take it to a decent parts shop, or your local Ford service center. They will test the charging system (for free).

Don't buy cheap batteries or cheap rebuilt alternators. Buy new, and OEM; there's a lot of crap out there. If you're buying alternators for under a hundred bucks (new or rebuilt), your taking a huge chance that it will fail within a year. Most places offer "lifetime warrantys" on these types of alternators, there's a reason; they fail often!

Who is "u"?
And it is the battery and/or the alternator. Have battery and alternator tested.
