Well you have the 4.2 so finding a tuner for that engine will be a little difficult. Bucko (one of the admins) found one a while back, and I just did a search, but I didn't have much luck. See if anyone in your area does dyno tuning and just hold onto that knowledge.

If you want a better ride, get new suspension. Hell, even buying replacement stock parts I'm sure would make it infinitely comfortable if your suspension hasn't been replaced yet (I'm willing to bet it hasn't). After that... if you want power, consider looking for that tuner or a dyno tester to at least give you a little more throttle response. There doesn't seem to be too much of a market for "power" for the V6 since most folks looking for power get one of the two V8s, but there are things you can do.

How can I tell what suspension would be a good idea for comfort?

Oh yeah, I'd definitely do that. That'll beat a CAI any day and it's CHEAP.

Pretty much any of them that aren't designed for increased towing (those are stiffer) and are at least OE quality. What year is your truck?

If you want just a better ride, go with Monroe struts in the front and Motorcraft shocks in the back, maybe replace your coil springs if you want or just reuse the ones you have, that'll treat you just fine
