Default Need help with courtesy lights

A few weeks ago I installed a 300 led strip under my truck to use as puddle lights. Instead of splicing into the power wire feeding from a door, (wanted them to activate any time a door opens) I ran a power line up into the headliner of the truck and just plugged it into the actual plug where the dome lights plug into. Though everything was good.
Everything was working just fine. Until my wife a couple nights ago tried to turn the courtesy lights to get something out of her purse amd they wouldn't turn on. The lights work when a door is opened but if you just click them then nothing happens. I also noticed the back seat dome light has 3 separate lights, now the only one working in the back is the middle dome light, the 2 side lights don't illuminate.
So the next morning I took the dome apart and took out the power wire and plugged it back in with just the normal plug ... Still not working. So next I looked to see if maybe I blew a fuse, searched online since I don't have a manual in my truck and the only fuse I could see that could possibly be it was fuse 20 ( overhead console power ) but that fuse was fine. I don't know what to try now, any ideas guys...????

You could have switched the polarity on the lights. Also, I would check to see if you over powered a relay. I would assume those lights pull a few more amps than recommended for that wire gauge and fuse, so your continuous duty relay or fuse could be bad.

Get a circuit tester(aka a light) to check each wire for 12v supply.

That looks fantastic! Would you mind posting a pic of exactly which wire you tapped into? I'd appreciate it a lot as I am looking to do the same thing.

Yea if you get a second could you possibly take a pic. I talked to you about it beforehand you told me youthought it was a green/yellow wire. I looked but couldn't find it but I'm colorblind and its really hard for me to see little colors on wires
