need help
well i have a 04 xlt it has a dash light out it is the screen that shows the mileage and the trip and outside temp dose any one know how to fix this so i can see it at night it still works but you just cant see it at night
I've written this proceedure several times. Do a search on "cluster", you'll find them, but here it is again:
To remove the cluster:
1) Remove the lower trim panel (below steering column) by removing lower screws, then slide panel up and away from dash.
2) The upper panel screws (cluster cover) are now exposed; remove them, then slide hands along the sides to unsnap the cluster cover, then pull back to unsnap the two backside snaps. Remove the upper cover.
3) Tilt the steering wheel down, then remove the two upper wire harnesses by pushing down on the locking tab and then sliding back the release levers on each harness plug.
4) Remove the 4 screws that hold the cluster into the dash.
5) Raise the cluster up about 2 to 3 inches, then unsnap the center "P R N D 1 2" display from the cluster by squeezing the left/right locking tabs (this step required for steering column shift only equipped trucks). Remove cluster, change bulb.
Install is reversing the steps
Be sure to use the correct bulb. The display panel in the cluster uses a slightly larger (brighter) bulb then the rest (guages), as it is bright when the lights are off (daylight) and is dimmer when lights are on (nighttime).
