Default Need advice.

I have a 06 super crew with the 4.6. I've got a flown aster catback system on it already. Edge evolution programmer. What I wanna know is if I should put a cold air intake on it or not ? What's everyone's inputs?

If you run a cold air intake with the edge canned tunes your truck will run lean. You would have to get custom tunes written so the tunes can account for the air mixture change.

How would you do this? I have a stock 06 5.4 and I am looking to do some mods. Is a CAI a good first step, or spend the money on some pipes?

What about running like a k&n filter ? Would that help make breathe any better?

If you want to run a CAI, save up and get it at the same time you get the custom tunes. If you get the cai without the tunes you risk running very lean, which may damage you truck.

I understand the possible damage. Where can I get the tunes at?

I would spend ten bucks and do the gotts mod for your intake it is definitely the best bang for your buck for our trucks! Also I bought an amsoil high flow dry filter for mine, I heard they are one of the best and the advantage over the k&n is that they don't use oil which can screw up of MAF sensors. If your not satisfied you can always spend the 200$ on a CAI but then even more on the custom tuning required.

Also, if your getting tunes go to power hungry performance. They are the only company to write tunes for the edge and they are one of the best companies for custom tunes there is. They convert it to what they call a gryphon for legal issues an then email you the tunes you ordered.

I say go for it...the lean problem was in 04/05 models and corrected in 06...look for a CAI that keeps the MAF in the same location like AIRAID or Roush ...or do the Gotts mod like mentioned above.
