Couple more 'lame comments' - about Torque Pro that may help you in future diagnosis.

Torque Pro makes it WAY too easy to clear DTCs. But there is an unpleasant payback for using it too liberally. There are numerous (about 9 by my count) Monitor routines that run in the PCM continuously monitoring the health of various systems. Clearing DTCs also clears status of those. Case in point. Your Mode $06 report says "Test incomplete or dependent test failed" for every one of the 'present' result of each of the tests.

I'm not just making this up. Your Freeze Frame data told on you. It says "Distance traveled since codes cleared = 0 miles". And freeze frame data is captured at the moment of DTC. When you just cleared them, your get Fuel Trim Bank 1 Short Term = 0 % (( repeated for all four trims)).

Not beating up on you. I have just come to believe the Check Engine light doesn't REALLY harm anything. Especially when Torque Pro will tell me exactly WHY it is lit. If the problem causing it is cleared, the PCM will reset the light in a couple of drive cycles - plus Torque's active data monitoring will show the problem is cleared. Then I might chose o clear DTCs if I'm done doing diagnostics.

In your present case - Focus on that P0355 meaning. The PCM feels that its efforts to fire #5 plug is futile. YOU can actually verify that. Remove #5 COP & Plug and leave plug inserted into boot. Take an alegator clip from plug cathode to a good engine ground. Install and lightly torque an old 'spare' plug in #5. Crank the engine and observe the plug.

If it truely isn't firing, start chasing down the electrical cause. We have actually seen failures in the output drivers of the PCM. You can verify the COP works. With ignition ON, Simply 'momentarily' ground the control wire (the one going to the PCM). The plug should spark as soon as you release the ground on the control wire. You will NOT hurt the PCM, you are simply doing what it DOES to fire the plug.

Dang what a coincidence. I will try not to ask any transmission related questions.

Well it's been a few weeks since I had a chance to work on this thing.
  • changed all the coil packs
  • changed all the plugs
  • compression test passed
  • leak down test passed
  • Swapped injectors, no change
I am going to replace the ecm computer now and was wondering if there are any pointers for the correct way to go about it.

Before you do that, ohm out wires to pcm plug to each failing item . The 12vdc is standing on injectors and cops withy key on ,check that too . Wire failures are common, check that hey are not shorting to ground as the pcm switches the grd .

Is there a schematic for the pins? I am not sure how to do this.
