Default Muffler question

What would happen if I removed the muffler? All I'm looking for is some sound, would I accomplish this by removing the muffler? Someone also said that my check engine light would come on, is this true? By the way the picture is looking to the rear of the truck.

no just undo the clamp and pound it outta the hangers with a rubber mallet. i had the shop do it, 40 bucks cash out the door, wasn't gonna waste my time for 40 bucks.

Spray the hangers with some wd-40 or other lube before you start. They should slip out easier after that. Also if you have a ratchet strap wrap it around the muffler and over the axle and winch it tight. Once the pipes start coming apart just get behind the truck and pull on the tail pipe. That's how I did mine. Took me about 10 minutes to get the muffler and tail pipe off. Good Luck.
