you should be able to consistently run 16-17 at 70ish mph. 16 isn't bad for a stock truck at 65+ mph, but the flat and no wind conditions you were in you should have been at 18 without winter blend gas. I'll get 18 at 65 mph summer gas. 55 mph in the slow states i'll get 20. 75-80 mph its 15-16 depending on wind. Interstate speed here is 75, 65 on two lane.

You'll be lucky to ever break 16 with that setup even at 55 mph. at 65-70 you be closer to 14 mpg. 4.10 gears will kill your mileage. Its a tradeoff, if you want acceleration with the 35's you will get bad mileage. If you stick with stock gears with that size you will lose accel, but only lose 2ish mpg compared to stock.

why is it that out there it is 85 and here it is 89? something to do with the thin air?
I do believe the altitude has a factor with the lower octane in Colorado. I have read that 85 octane in high altitude states has the same anti knock ability as 87 octane at sea level. I have been running the 85 e10 in my truck for a couple of months and it runs great.

Ya that's what I figured... A trade off I can live with
