If I really baby it, I can get between 16 and 17 combined city and interstate. On a trip that's all interstate, I can get around 18. When I just drive it how I want, I get around 14 combined city and interstate.

My truck is a stock '08 5.4.

To get the 16-17 combined drivin', I was doin' 5 under the speed limit and usin' my cruise control whenever possible. I was also eeeeaaaaasin' on the gas, and coastin' up to lights that were red and stop signs. I was gettin' off the gas pedal as early as I possibly could before stoppin' or slowin' down for other vehicles. I was doin' everything I could to keep the mileage up. I just wanted to see what I could get. It was work because I had to think about how I was drivin' and what I could do to be even more efficient. Then I just decided to not worry about it as much and drive like I wanted. In the end, it didn't seem to save me all that much money in gas. Then again, sometimes every bit of savings helps.

I have an 05 and i have a 4.6 also and i put a K&N cold air induction system, Granatelli Motors Sports M.A.F., and just recently a 3" true dual with x pipe exhaust and now i get on avg. 27-28mpg. So I if you just stuff more air down her throat it'll pay off alot!

All I have put on the truck in a k&n filter. I don't drive all that fast I don't think I watch all the rpms and such, I might hit the gas hard enough to keep it at the 2k rpm put that is about it...if I don't it takes for ever to accelerate...that is the only thing I liked about my inlaws silverado...

Right now my scangauge is showing 11.3 mpg. I have a 3 mile drive to work. I let the truck warm up when the windows are frosted and I can't see. I also filled up with "discount" gas so I am betting that is part of the issue. It was a 4-5mpg drop. I have been able to get 15 or so in the city. My biggest combined was around 19.
