Default mounting light bar

I went to install my new light bar the other day and ran into a problem. Along the back of the bed, right where the bar is supposed to mount, theres a little hole where a pin of some sort from the tailgate swings into. Anyone find a way to install the light bar without cutting off that pin? Or is that the only way to get it done? I can get pics a little later if needed.

I was also curious about this. I haven't tried to do the install but did see the pin on the bottom side of the tailgate. I wonder what that is even for

It seems like its an emergency pin incase the steel straps break so that the tailgate wont open and fall off going down the road. Thats the only thing that it looks like its for and I dont even know if its strong enough to do that. Im considering cutting it off and going from there. pics soon.

I would not cut that pin...... Have you noticed that for there size our tailgates are not that heavy to close? The pin is part of the torsion bar that is in the tailgate to aid in lifting the tailgate. So there is at least the possible danger of having it tear loose while cutting as it is under tention......

What could I do to mount the light while avoiding cutting that pin? It looks like I wouldnt need to cut it flush to the tailgate to clear the light bar if I were to cut. Doenst need much gone.
