Misfire help?
I live about 20 minutes away from a highway but when I do drive the highway or up some hills my truck starts to jump. It feels like a misfire to me. It was throwing a code when I driving at around 75-80MPH on an open road. Took it to the mechanic but since he was unable to reproduce the problem and no engine codes were being produced at the time he didnt fix anything. Any ideas on what this could be?
Mine was bucking at low RPM's (1500 or so) while in OD. In OD at about 40-50mph, it would start bucking if I started going up a hill or wanted to accelerate while staying in OD.
I came here and searched and asked and the consensus was that it was plugs or coil packs causing the misfire. I would suspect something along thos lines.
what is the year and mileage on the truck and how many miles on the plugs and coil packs.

Yeah, I test drove it and it was fine. Not a week later the issue started. Go figure. I got suckered into buying the extended warranty which doesn't cover plugs unless they break according to Ford. Its an 06 with 74k miles. I'm assuming the plugs are original
That's a little early for plugs to go bad, but not impossible. Maybe check the coil packs as well.
I would change plugs and see if it works. You can do it yourself but buy the Lisle extractor tool in case you break one.
Of course if Ford covers the broken plugs then take it to Ford. The plug change should be around $200-250 with no broken plugs. If Ford pays for broken ones, this is money well spent in my book. You will pay $100 for plugs alone if doing it yourself.
