Default Mirrors

I thinking about replacing my stock mirrors on my 2004 screw with the 07-08 extendable mirrors. Am I correct that it's pretty much a plug and play operation (minus the install of the mirror)? Also, does anybody know where I can get them at a decent price.

Yep. Plug and play with whatever options you already have. If you don't already have built in signals, you probably won't afterwards, unless you wire them up extra.
Look in the "How-To" Section for a complete writeup

not completely true i did not have signal mirrors before but for some reason my truck was prewired for the signal mirrors so it was just plug and play.even if you had to wire them there is a great write up in the how to section some where.i ordered mine from the vendor in the vendor section josh from tascaparts

Really? What year/model do you have?
My 07 XLT didn't have signals and I upgraded and still don't.

its an 05 fx4 and i even started running the wires and getting everything ready then noticed that there were already wires in the holes that i was supposed to use so i plugged them up and sure enough the signals worked on both sides so i guess i got lucky.

Maybe all Fx4s came with that option? Glad you got lucky... lol

Thanks for the link rrogers1221.

I already have the turn signal mirrors so that shouldn't be an issue. Can't wait to get some and install them! ...just wish they didn't cost so dang much lol

I read a nice point in one of the how to threads on mirrors and radios that all the 150s were equipped with the same wiring harness so the wires are there. The module or controller for whatever function you are trying to add may or may not be installed (like the lariat dash message center for example). Nice to know you don't have to cut and route wires for all the extra stuff. I did read that the power fold or power extend doesn't work when installing the new mirrors on the older trucks but that may have been a different mod.
