Anyone know a part number or where to get a replacement socket for the third Brake light bulb. I had my brake light assembly off today to replace the bulb and found that the grey socket had melted a little at the tip. It is so warped I couldnt even get it back into the assembly once I got it out.

 

Autozone has them on the shelf.by all the fuses

 

Ill take a look. I didnt think that socket would be so common a part.

 

Need to find out why it melted also...

 

I had to change out mine the other day and it was also slightly melted. Got the new bulb in ok. have no idea as to why this happened it still was the factory bulb and the truck is a 05.

 

Looked at the connectors and the were seperated and not corroded it must have been the heat from the bulb

 

My 05 did this also. I put a LED in it..

 

Yup I am thinking that may be the way to go

 

What brand did you buy? I have read good and bad about LEDs in the third brake light.
