Default "Melling" Phasers/VCTs

Thoughts? I know Melling typically sells/makes good stuff. There is a Phaser+VCT kit for $400 available with 2 Phaser sprockets and 2 VCT solenoids made in USA. Says made by SCHAEFFLER USA, an OE supplier to Ford. It cuts about $150 off the cost of the FoMoCo Phaser kit alone.

I'd say its perfectly fine to use Melling considering they're an OEM supplier. Others will say to ONLY use Ford parts because aftermarket is crap, but Ford parts for our generation of truck are beginning to become rare. Also, trying to save money will always bite you in the butt later.

Do you have a link to that phaser kit? I want to look at it. NEVER buy major engine components from Amazon or eBay.

I'd suggest you read my post here on what to buy. https://www.f150forum.com/f4/new-me-...0/#post6225771

Parts kit is from eBay. I’ve never had a problem with OEM parts as they have a good mafia to fight the scammers; Just note the sellers feedback and location. Search Melling phasers and you should find it. I’m eyeing the timing kit from them now. It’s hard to find the OEM parts without the full $1,000 kit.

Yes, buy them from Rock Auto (Summit Racing might also sell them, but Rock Auto is a bit cheaper). That post I linked has links to the items to buy.

Man. Rolling those dice. Stick to factory, some people keep saying it, and sadly some keep ignoring it.

I’m going official FoMo, but I did read that Melling is the manufacturer of the FoMo OEM phasers. It seems Rock Auto sells them with “FoMoCo” brushed off.

I'd trust Melling because of the fact that they are an OEM supplier to Ford (I've noticed that, that the original factory numbers have been sanded off. I'd assume that's because they take Ford OEM phasers and rebuild them to the new spec). Never get Dorman or some of the cheaper Chinesium.
