Default Mass air flow sensor question

Saturday i cleaned my maf sensor and on sunday the engine light come on.I unhooked the battery to clear the engine light. It worked for 200 -300 miles and its back on.Could my sensor have gone bad after i cleaned it.I followed the cleaning instructions.I had the code read and bank 1 lean and maf sensor is one of the options for fixing it.

I doubt the sensor went bad after you cleaned it but there is a possibility that something has malfunctioned due to the cleaning especially if it happened right after you cleaned it

Did you clean it with specific MAF cleaner or something that would leave a residue behind?

i used the right cleaner! How fragile are they? I had to drill and tap out one of the bolts that held it in,because it was stripped out.

Think of an egg that's in a glass house on top of a fault line, pretty solid until something happens. I would imagine messing with it set off the MAF, but it's weird it only is showing a lean code on one bank and not both. May have a vacuum leak somewhere also on that side that is exasperating the problem.

Keep in mind my truck runs good no problems, just the check engine light on with code p0171.

It could be possible that the MAF gasket is pinched or the air hose isn't sealed good. Double check your work.
