Default Low fuel light

Hi all, I have a symptom and question. The last two times I let it get that low, the low fuel light came on with six gallons left. It never came on this early before. Is this a sign of something else getting ready to crap out? The truck is an '08 screw 5.4 with the 25 gal tank, the only changes so far are wheels and tires and off road grill lights.

Mine has come on before with 6 gallons left as well, in line waiting for a gas pump. Kinda liked the idea that it happened when it did so that i would know how much was in the tank if it ever happened again. It has and it is usually takes about 20-21 gallons to fill, so I think that is the common point for the light.

I'll assume that this light is proportinal to the size of your gas tank; vintageman reports his coming on at 6 gallons remaining of a 28 (?) gallon tank, and techrep states his comes on at 4 to 5 gallons remaining with his larger 36 (?) gallon tank.

These sound correct, as it would indicate less than 1/4 of a tank.
