loud clunk whe engaging 4x4

I turned the dial to engage the 4 wheel drive and after a delay it made a loud clunk noise as it engaged. everything seems alright otherwise.
any ideas?

Mine does the same thing but everything does seem normal. The manual does say that you might hear it engaging but it just doesnt sound right.
