Default Losing hope

Hey guys I'm lost. I think I might just cut losses. This is my nightmare from hell. I bought my truck about 2 years ago. 2006 ford f150 lariat. I did a bunch of upgrades yo it. I had the a small tick noise. Decided to get it done last year. Did top end of engine. (Timing and stuff). No cutting corners. I dropped of at mechanics. It took about 4-6 month why I don't know. Still had tick slight after all this. Misfired second time driving it. I was told I spun a bearing. I was going on vacation. So I let truck sit. Decided to replace engine with factory ford. When I get it back abs light is on. Code c1300. Took it to dealer and they want 1200 for part and not sure labor. Said it was hydraulic pump and abs module. I'm tired of lying money in. What should I do?

I would inspect the ABS module and wiring. Unplug the connector and make sure it is clean and no loose pins. Make sure there is no damage that may have been caused by them removing and replacing engine. Plug module back in and take for a test drive. May just be bad luck and a failed module.

Based on everything:

- You had a spun bearing and you didn't have louder noises or other issues other than a misfire? You didn't run it much longer after to determine if it truly was a spun bearing? I would imagine you'd seize it or similar quickly. Normally it's low oil that would cause this to occur anyways. Not saying it's not possible!
- You had a new engine installed and coincidentally the ABS pump is gone after you picked it up (maybe from sitting - I guess it could be possible). Like Kobi wrote, maybe worth checking the connections? I'm not an expert with the ABS system as I haven't looked myself. I did have a sensor go once though and it actually made my seatbelt chime act as if I wasn't wearing it all of the time. So it's hard to say how the computer could treat it.

I'm not trying to play devils advocate here, but is it possible you're using the same mechanic and maybe should get a second opinion? Sorry, it's a bit bold of me to say that but it seems a bit odd.


Anyways, like the others said too, you have a new engine in it now... hopefully the ABS is the last major issue but you'll probably lose more money getting rid of it than fixing that issue and going forward.

Sounds to me like there is a lack of communication between you and your mechanic(s). You are the person paying the bills. You need to find out what is being done and WHY.

Can you not drive your truck with an ABS light on? Sure ABS is better to have as opposed to not having it but your truck still runs and drives, right? No need to throw it away.

For future issues with mechanics. When they say REBUILD you get a SECOND OPINION elsewhere so you know your not getting scammed.

What did you do with your old long block motor?
