Default Looking to buy

I am looking to buy an 07 or so Lariat SuperCrew 4x4 with under 30000 miles (50000 km). What sort of things should I look for when shopping for a used F150? Any problem areas that should be closely examined? Any other pointers you guys could share? Thanks.

Up here in Manitoba, Canada it's nearly impossible to find such a truck being sold by an individual. I have a buddy who has a dealer's license, so he's allowed access to auctions, so that is likely where the truck would come from. Ford auction hopefully, where the truck's are off lease. An auction mart is definitely not my 1st choice of seller, but they're about 5 grand cheaper than the few Ford lots that have something comparable.

Watch out for the spark plugs. Try to purchase an F150 built 10/07 or later which have the new plug and head design installed. The old design caused the plug to seperate, causing a pain in the A to remove and has cost many some huge $ to replace. Otherwise, I am unaware of any other major issue to watch out for, other than your typical forms of abuse. My '06 hasn't had 1 issue to date at 20K miles.

Here's a link to the TSB for stuck plugs.

Thanks for you're well put response. Can you give us some reasons as to why you feel this way and what may be a better 1/2 ton on the market?

Gonna be looking at an 06 FX4 Supercrew 4x4 loaded (leather, console shift, etc) with 40,000 miles (60,000km). Beside the spark plugs (which do scare me), anything else I should be aware of? If I buy it, should I change the plugs asap, or just drive it for another 40,000 miles and sell it and let the next owner worry about it?
