Default Locking Hub Control Ploblem

I posted earlier about a problem that I thought was coming from the transmission or transfer case. It turns out the problem/grinding noise I was hearing was the auto locking hubs on my truck trying to engage. Aparently in 2WD my hubs we trying to engage, but not succeeding, but when I put my truck in 4WD they did engage and the noise went away.

The guy at AAMCO told me I had a bad locking hub control. I looked this part up online and I saw a piece that looked like it belonged on the hub of the truck and possibly another piece on the axle side. I asked the mechanic if he was talking about the control on the Hub and he said no. So I asked him if the solenoid was bad and he said no. He said it was a whole piece and sat next to the steering knuckle. I have been trying to find this online and can't find anything that looks right. Can anyone offer any further advice on where this locking hub control is located?

I don't know if there are two locking control hubs or just 1, I forgot to ask if we were talking passenger or driver side of the truck.

I have an 05 F150 Fx4

No such thing...don't know what he is talking about...you need to replace your IWE solenoid ..located on the firewall behind your battery... this is a very common problem with our year 4WD trucks.

Easily one of the best write ups I have seen in a forum.
