Default Little expensive, no?

So my CEL came on last week and I used my edge to get a reading, it was a p0451 for the evap emissions system. I went to the dealership to get a full diagnostic on it to find out the exact problem because theres too many reasons for that code. After 3 hours of waiting they finally came to me and said theres a problem with my fuel tank pressure sensor(I guess it finds out what gases and vapors are in the tank) and a price to fix it.

$247.81 for the part and about $375 for labor. This is a bit outrageous, right? They said all they have to do is drop the gas tank and replace the part. But over $600 to do that? What the hell. Is this a fair price?

Unfortunately the mechanics have ya by the ***** if ya don't have the means to do your own repairs. Probly not too far off of what a regular shop would charge opposed to a dealership though. If you can't do it or have a buddy help ya, I'd say you don't have a choice though unfortunately

You can check with another shop, the part price will most likely be the same but the labor will be a bit lower. My dealer is $100 / hour and some the local shops are $64/ hour...it might save you $100 as long as its done right

Unfortunately, nothing is cheap at the stealership. I'd shop it around with some good local indy's.

I always go to the local shop by me, unless it's warranty work. They've always done right for me and if not they fix it and eat the charge.

FTP SENSOR ASSEMBLY.........257.23
LABOR TO INSTALL...................247.50

PART# 5L3Z - 9J279 - BA

Another local shop told me 188 total for a pressure sensor. Should that fix my light?
