Default little help for the new guy

Lifts...I have searched and there seem to be a bunch of threads on them showing them off, but not much on what's what.

I presently have a leveling kit on my 05 screw and would like some information on lifts and what my options are. I would like to go mild, but by the sounds of things mild is around 6"s of lift. I know 4wheel Parts id 90% a scam from back in my Jeep days but they are extremely close and have things in stock when I needed them. With that being said I stopped in there today and was told that they dont make a true lift for anything under 6"s???
When I went to 6 on my Jeep I was swapping out drive shafts, having to go to long arm kits, and nothing drove right after. Tires got way to expensive, so by by to the Jeep.

I guess my question or questions are...
1.) What are my options for 6" and under? And what should I be paying?
2.) How is the drive at that high of a lift?
3.) What else is needed once I go to 6"s or less? (drive train issues)
4.) with the new angles on parts, are you chewing up tires faster?

thanks in advance, I look forward to some good readings.

Rancho makes a 4" lift, but it is only slightly lower than a 6" lift for some reason. Lol. With a 6" lift you will not have any problems as far as drive train. Everything should work just fine. And as long as your alignment is okay, tires shouldnt be a problem either. And depending on what you plan on doing with your truck will decide on what lift. A procomp stage one uses a large spacer in the front that lifts it up and uses the stock coilovers. For the average user this is okay. Its also the cheapest method. Procomp (as well as others) have a "stage 2" kit that comes with new coil overs for the front.

Ive got a rough country 4 inch. i payed $1000 for the lift. driving with it felt cool at first cuz since i was little it was my dream to have a lifted truck haha but now it feels like it did when i first ever drove the truck.
everything needed should be with the lift. and tire wear depends on what tires you get hope that helped you haha

What are your plans for the truck? Are you going to be a average truck user, or is your truck going to see air and hit the trails every weekend.

Thanks again for the ideas. I was told by the guy at 4WheelParts that the reason they call the 4" Rancho a 4" is for insurance reasons only.
I will be using the truck 80% of the time to get me from A to B. I am not looking to run the Rubicon, or the golden Spike in Moab. But wouldn't mind going off and hitting some local trails around Denver. I do realize that we are limited in what we can do with IFS vs. a solid front axle like I was once used to, but I am not looking to hit the same trails as I used to either.
I have done some price checking, and for a mild lift that will net me close to or at 6"s it looks like bang for buck either Rancho or Pro Comp Stage 1. I did find a "stage 2" for 1339 + Shipping. Is the extra 300 worth the Stage 2?

hell yea its worth the 300 dollars more, its usually at least like $1000 dollars more. where did you find it at that price. with the stage 2 you will get front coilovers to replace your stock strut and no spacer. and also get uprgradedrear shcoks

That price is for the stage 1 kit. On the right hand side you will see the $800+ add-on for the stage 2 kit.
