True, it will wear out the clutches faster, but if you want the stock one to work i think thats how its done, and any ls that is "working" will chirp and chatter around turns wont it? only way to avoid that is by getting a locker thats selectable right?[/b]
If you hang around on here you'll see people post up regularly about their truck shuddering during low speed turning. 99% of the time it's due to running low on friction modifier or their LS clutch packs are wearing out; so if you run it intentionally low on modifier then I expect you'll get the same result.
I think a few guys on here gone with an aftermarket LS front and rear. My only fear of having one on front would be that we get a lot of icy roads and I'd worry about breaking the front free.

any recomendations for a good aftermarket ls that is under a grand or even 600? labor is not a problem as i do all work myself on all my vehicals. i want something that will give me the traction i need when off road but not effect my daily driving as that is what i use it for the most.

I personally haven't needed more than rear. I offroad through some decent stuff but don't get crazy. An F150 is too big of a vehicle for most the hardcore 4x4 runs in Colorado.

you can run a locker or a ls in the front but if you stress it it will mess up cv axles, or iwe's.
so for 600 ish bucks the eaton true track is a definate improvement over stock?
and for more money a selectable locker is head honcho?

you should be able to pick up the truetrac cheaper than 600 with a little shopping. I bought mine at the same time I regeared and got it for $460.
